Does anyone have shortness of breath with Gerd/Acid Reflux?

Does anyone have shortness of breath with their Gerd/Acid Reflux? Also, does anyone have Gerd/Acid Reflux almost 24/7 even with taking medication?

When my shortness of breath is at it's worst just taking a deep breath closes up the pit of my throat and chest...sort of like the heart feeling crushed? It's always worse after eating, I have acid reflux 24-7, it leaks into my lungs at night during sleep.

I take Omeprazol 20mg twice a day plus gaviscon chewable tablets.

I have the same. I was diagnosed with a sliding hiatal hernia. I was on several meds and now I take apple cider vinegar in the am, massage around my upper abdomen to loose the fascia. It has helped immensely, I found the drugs made me feel better temporarily bit worse in the long run. I've had this for over 3 months all day. Much better at night but the acid floats up into throat. My shortness of breathe is much worse when the fascia is tight around my upper abdomen/back.

Yes. I have uncontrolled reflux... meaning nothing helps it.

Yes... and the reflux makes the muscles in my esophagus tighten up and not relax, so I always feel like my throat is closing up and my chest is tight and it feels hard to breathe at times.

Vanessa Nellestein that should be working for you. When did you start taking it? You might have asthma or something and you may need an inhaler.

Reflux started towards the end of May. Nexium seemed to be helping for about 2 weeks and then the symptoms got worse. Started on Zantac about 5 days ago and has made no difference.

Symptoms are tight and sometimes painful chest. Feeling of a lump in my throat and discomfort in my upper stomach area. Shortness of breath is vary rare.

From what I've read I believe some people never get relief after trying a lot of different medications!!!👎

Yes, it's probably not helping and I know what I should/shouldn't be having, I just haven't put it into practice yet. Just strange that for 2 weeks I did get significant relief with the Nexium!!!!

Don’t just count on medication eat low acid drink lots of water. Take probiotics. Walk. Aloe Vera. Keep fighting. I am omemprosil in morning Zantac at night and gavison. I just keep fighting and praying. First time in my life on meds and I’m 63.

Yes, and now my latest symptom is constsnt burning from my stomach to my throat no matter what I eat. Menopause got me all messed up.

It is debilitating. The shortness of breath feels like asthma without the wheezing and does not respond to the asthma pump at all. That plus the tight feeling in my throat, has been a nightmare. My intuition says it might be acid vapors from the esophagus that I’m breathing in. If I pay close attention I can almost feel the vapor in my lungs.
