What is the difference between Doctor prescribed Omeprazole 20mg Capsules and Omeprazole DR Tablets you get at Costco
What is the difference between Doctor prescribed Omeprazole 20mg Capsules and Omeprazole DR Tablets you get at Costco, does anyone know? The price difference is unbelievable, so there must be a difference in medicine, or one would think. I responded really well to the ones prescribed, but the tablets from Costco not so much, (gave me constipation and stomach problems). I'm one of those poor souls that has bad breath and weird sour and metalic tastes as a symptom of Gerd.

I dont think theres much of a difference I dont take dr prescibed I take over the counter, zantac I didnt know Costco has those I should try those.

The ingredients will be listed. There is technically no difference between branded and generic medicines but personally I have found occasionally the cheaper version doesn't work as well (in general - not your med specifically)

I'll have to ask a pharmacist I think...one cost $150, the one from Costco is $20.

They don't work the same though, that's the thing! And my doctor won't prescribe them to me since i have no symptoms. The usual symptoms, that is. He doesn't think my breath symptoms are drom gerd, but I've been to like 10 dentists and hygienists, there's nothing wrong with my teeth or gums. I brush floss and scrape my tongue at least 4-5 times a day, and the bad taste and breath comes back in like 30 minutes.

Marina some people have tonsil stones...maybe that is where the breath odor is coming from. There may be a difference between the meds if they use different fillers. Type of fillers can interact with different people and cause meds to not absorb as well. I have noticed that if I take a generic brand of some kind it doesn't work as well as name brand though. I don't think generic is as routinely checked for potency in my opinion. It doesn't matter what I'm taking if it is a generic some pills seem to work better then another from same bottle.
