'Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. Many people, including pregnant women, suffer from heartburn or acid indigestion caused by GERD

Are you on a ppi?

Julie Capper
What’s ppi?

Alena Reed
Proton pump inhibitor medication. Nexium, protonix, dexilant, prilosec.

Alyssa Redinger
Lee Yes, protonix.

Alena Reed
Alyssa Redinger Lee ok I knoe from experience I had to switch mine because protonix wasn't working for me and it made me have severe stomach pain and I wasn't breaking food Down in my stomach thst well.

Char Angell I have these same exact symptoms among more, even the sharp cramps but right below my left rib cage. If anyone knows what’s going on it would be immensely helpful!

Michele Pratt
Are you on any anxiety medication?

Alyssa Redinger
Lee No,im not diagnosed with anxiety yet. I was suppose to get a call from a psychiatrist to see if i have a paniv attack disorder or something.

Alyssa Redinger
Lee M my physical therapist is wanting me to see a neurologist. N i myself want to see a GI doctor.

Michele Pratt
It really sounds like anxiety. Once I got my anxiety under control I was able to better control my Gerd.

Rebecca McCue
I had all of those symptoms when I had Lyme disease and co-infections. Is your dr testing you for other things?.

Alyssa Redinger Lee
Michele Pratt i tested neggitive for lyme. But i did grab a tiny tick off of my arm a week ago... n co-infections? Whats that.

Rebecca McCue
Alyssa Redinger Lee probably wouldn’t be from tick only a week ago. Takes a while to get that bad. Co infections are other tick borne illnesses/ babesiosis, erlichiosis are 2 of many.

Alyssa Redinger Lee
Rebecca McCue yeah but im already dealing with a bunch of things. And i can test those by bloodtest right?

Sounds like a health anxiety to me ( which is very hard to admit for the patient). I was very anxious about my health and I had the same symptoms as you do. As long as doctors could not find anything I was feeling more and more anxious. And anxiety can do many things to your body so as long as you are anxious you will get more and more symptoms. Stress not only gives you palpitations, irregural heart beat, weakness, dizzines and pain it is also one of the causes of weight loss, irregular menstrual cycle, GERD/Acid reflux, skin problems, bleeding gums, nausea, vomiting and etc...
Your symptoms are very common to anxiety ones. Especially weird feeling in tongue, believe me, I know what you feel and it sucks.
First, I would kindly suggest you to check your thyroid, do your blood tests and other necessary tests to make sure you don't have any serious health problem. If blood and other tests show that it's ok, my biggest advice would be to start some yoga, pilates, meditation.
Enough sleep and balanced diet. Read books or do some research about anxiety, placebo effect and etc. At the moment I am reading a wonderful book called "How to overcome pain" which is brilliant and helps a lot.
I think the strongest step is to admit and to believe that anxiety does the thing. And sometimes it's hard to believe that minds can be so powerfull because you really feel severe physical symptoms. It took 3 years for me to admit that it's my health anxiety and i stopped my visits to the doctors.
And then I could completely change my life. I want to add, that I was misdiagnosed with aneurisma. So believe me, I was suffering from severe headaches and dizziness a year till doctors confirmed i don't have it. So my headaches went away the same day. This is the power of minds we have.
Everything is in your hands Alyssa, only you can choose how you want to live. Very important is to not google your symptoms as google is a place where every symptom is a cancer or heart disease.
P.s. drink plenty of water,if your skin is dry, it shows that you are not drinking enough. Dehydration also gives headaches and other symptoms so take a look into it.
And best of luck! You will survive!:).

Thank you for your wise words!!! N my doctor just doesn't wana test me for everything. She will look at me n say I don't think u have it. Cuz of my age probably,I'm only freshly 22.

Greta Sav
I know it sucks. I totally understand you.
I was even younger than you. This is how my health anxiety developed - no one wanted to do any tests because of my age. That happens to others too. And when you feel symptoms and you don't know the answer it makes the situation even worse. Especially when we see how many young people now have certain diseases which is uncommon at young age.
I don't know which country you live in so I cannot give a comment about healthcare system there but I would suggest to keep going to the doctors and to dramatize some symptoms, explain that you feel weaker and lost some weight. I'm in the UK and after several appoitments with my GP I had all my tests done. You have to keep going to make sure it's okay. I'm sure that more of 80-90% is anxiety. But you have to make sure as well that there is nothing wrong within your body. I hope you will sort this out in the nearest future.

Long term health anxiety warrior here and what you say is true. I have many strange symptoms over the years some don’t go away like rosacea but they go up and down. I recently changed jobs and for the past year my acids been a nightmare with new symptoms of pains and bloating, fluttering in chest and pausing heart beats etc ! But I do believe anxiety has been key to making things worse. Now I’m much better with anxiety but I know it will take time to resolve.

Greta Sav
So glad you are much better now! Keep going!

Paul Phoenix
Greta Sav I’ve had it on and off since I was a kid and I’ve done well mostly but the job change a year ago obviously flared it up badly. Thanks.

Christina Pugh Mcgee
I have had or still have all of those symptoms. My toung almost felt crampy on the sides? My skin and hair are super dry. Didnt use to be. I'm pretty sure it's because my inflammation is so bad

Alyssa Redinger Lee
