I’m 61 and recently diagnosed with GERD, gastritis, H Pylori, hiatal hernia and Barrett’s Esophagus
Hello, I’m looking for some input from the group. I’m 61 and recently diagnosed with GERD, gastritis, H Pylori, hiatal hernia and Barrett’s Esophagus. I just finished 2 weeks on a PPI, as well as 2 different antibiotics to kill the H Pylori. I’m also on prednisone for asthma.
The last few days I’ve been coughing and coughing, especially after eating anything. I’m bloated and haven’t eaten much. When I breath in deeply it feels like a flap in my throat is opening. It’s all very weird and kind of freaking me out.
I’m pretty sure my asthma is reflux related. And I’ve never had heartburn.
Do any of you experience similar symptoms? I sometimes feel like I should go to the ER, then it passes. Any help? Thank you so much in advance. - Sue Portugal.

Hi there I have acid reflux I have done for over 10years due to h pylori I did the two week course of antibiotics which I didn't receive in time so was told I would always have a very sensitive stomach and digestive tract from then on I've tried varied different prescription medications but the acid is still horrendous at times .. I have felt this flap you are talking about which now feel like a constant lump or phlegm stuck in my throat which I was told is globus and sometimes I have bled or be sick due to the acid especially in times of pregnancy.
I have had asthma since I was 11 but only ever really needed a blue inhailer if excessive running as a child or in the colder months. But since developing acid reflux I now am on 3 different inhailers and need them every day I asked if there was a link and each doctor has said that the symptoms are very similar and can cause shortness of breath ect and that it's best to treat overall with an inhailer ect as it's hard to pinpoint if the acid set the asthma off or vice versa.

Thanks everybody. I haven’t seen ENT yet and will request referral.
