I have LPR/GERD. Thank you so much for accepting my request. I live in the uk and hv disagreed with the GP that I have LPR/GERD. I have been taking omeprazole for a few months but things seem to be getting worse. So I have decided I needed to research and bloody hell the doctor might be right 🙄😳 so alongside a new diet I need to eat some humble pie. So I look to get so much info so I can make a change.

Medication alone works for a lot of people but not everyone. For the rest of us diet plays an equally important role.

You're lucky your doctor knows what LPR is. Many docs in the UK don't. I was on omeprazole and other ppis for some years and it made me worse. I have LPR but gaviscon advance is my saviour. If you do have LPR, Gerd, or both then you would need to change your lifestyle. There's a lot of info you'll find in this group to help you along your way.

Completely agree with you. My doctor surgery is useless and their answer for everything is just to throw another prescription at you. They really haven't got a clue.

Dave Wakefield... Wondering at what time of day/night do you take Gaviscon advance? How much, how often? and do you take a sip of water with it? I know that it is quite thick. I have the Gaviscon advance, Aniseed flavor. I would appreciate your answer and information. Thanks in advance.

I take 2 lots of 5ml each morning after breakfast and before bed. Don't take water with it as it will break the barrier. I tend not to eat for 4 hours after taking it and 1-2 hours for drinking water. Some say it will break the barrier drinking water that soon but it's fine with me. I also have the Aniseed flavour. You do get use to the thickness of it after a bit. Hope that helps.

Dave Wakefield Thank you, Dave. I appreciate your reply and the good information. I am just beginning to take it at night before going to bed. My main symptom is acid taste in mouth in morning.
Dave Wakefield
That's ok. Hope it works for you. If you really do struggle the max dose is 10ml - 4 times a day. I was on the max dose for sometime weaning off other meds. I only take this now and it works great for me. I'd be lost without it. Also, thankfully there's no side effects or issues if you take it long term.
