'Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. Many people, including pregnant women, suffer from heartburn or acid indigestion caused by GERD

When I was pregnant with my son my reflux was horrendous

When I was pregnant with my son my reflux was horrendous then While I breastfeed him I felt normal, as he was weaning when he was almost 2 it flared super bad and I was pregnant again soon after I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant it's horrendous again. It did seem to flare a bit around my period but nothing too bad. Has anyone found any links with hormones?

Same as you! I had it while Iwas pregnant and was fine while Ibreastfed. About a month after I weaned my youngest I was having gerd attacks and the worst flare up, I thought it was my asthma but it was gerd

I've asked my Dr about a possible link but was always brushed off, so glad I'm not crazy lol

On the gastritis site some the women said their gastritis actually healed while pregnant and they didn't have any problems and then I came across your post. I believe there's a link with hormones somehow or at least it seems

The day before my period has been pure hell, and then I'm a lot better after.

no you're not crazy, my ENT doc told me that mine probably started when i was pregnant. but honestly looking back at over 10 years of asthma symptoms i think i had it before i got pregnant i just didnt know it was gerd. but pregnancy sure made it worse.

From what I gathered from various people it's a crap shoot with hormones and pregnancy. I'm in the process of trying to conceive and I'm terrified my existing GERD will be worse. Some say it does, some say it stayed the same, some say it lessened. Everyone is different. I'm just bracing myself to have to be armed with gaviscon

I know this sounds weird but I never had any problems during my pregnancy and this all started right after I stopped breastfeeding my 14 month old son. Not sure if it's related or not but my hormones with pregnancy and breastfeeding were changed for about 2 years then stopped. Not sure if there is a relation. Has anyone found birth control help their symptoms?

Erica Samantha
Birth control did not help in fact it may have made it worse for me.
