'Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. Many people, including pregnant women, suffer from heartburn or acid indigestion caused by GERD

Heartburn all day every day with no relief from anything natural or prescribed

I never knew a flareup could last this long. Currently on the six-month. Heartburn all day every day with no relief from anything natural or prescribed. Will this ever let up? Currently on a smoothie fast. Day two. No relief. At this point feeling completely hopeless. - Brooke Rea

Have you tried probiotics and digestive enzymes.... I found that eating pickles... Kimchi and dri king Buttermilk works the best for me.

Sharleen Calderwood
Doterras Zengest drops have been amazing for me after trying lots of different things a couple of drops in about 4oz of water and I get relief really quickly. I know everyone is different but I'm so glad I gave it a try!

Brooke Rea
I have yl digize doesn’t seem to help.

Sharleen Calderwood
Brooke Rea oh no it has been a game changer for me.

What’s in your smoothies? Any acidic ingredients? Any fruit? Dairy? Both of those are very hard on me.

Brooke Rea
I do add fruit to my smoothie. But according to AWD by adding almond milk it neutralizes the acidic fruit.

Michele Pratt
What kind of diet are you using? What meds have you tried? What doctors have you seen? It took me six months on low acid diet along with medications to see real improvements.

Brooke Rea
I avoid acidic foods. Low acid diet. Avoid most dairy and meat products. Drink mostly water. Occasional low acid coffee in the morning. I know I need to cut that out completely 😢.

Brooke Rea
And also take Zantac 150 mg twice a day.

Michele Pratt
What about no eating at least three hours before bed? Have you tried gaviscon at bedtime? Enzymes with dinner? Have you seen a gi or an allergist? Tried ppis?

Brooke Rea
Michele Pratt yes to all of the above. Hopeless right?? 😭 The weird thing is is I was on PPI’s for two years they worked great then all of a sudden quit. I weaned off and was maintaining with a very healthy diet and had nearly no heartburn or acid reflux for six months. All of a sudden something happened and I flared up. For the last six months I’ve had constant heartburn. And nothing seems to be helping. I’ve tried a list of prescriptions and natural remedies.

Michele Pratt
Hows your posture? Slouching and laying around triggers mine. I also have to take an antihistamine every night because my allergies also trigger it

Pamela Isenberg
CBD works great for my son.

Shonna
Wright May Brooke Rea similar situation for me. I still try to drink the low acid coffee to and I know I really can’t have it. I’m cutting it out tomorrow!

Brooke Rea
Michele Pratt I don’t lay around much but maybe I should try an antihistamine.

Brooke Rea
Pamela Isenberg I want to try this.

Pamela Isenberg
Shonna Wright May it's the medical marajuana without the THC. My son has a medical card in Florida. The CBD and intermittent fasting has allowed him to eat everything.

Pamela Isenberg
You could try the hemp first and see if it gives you relief. Cutting out carbs for a while should help too.

Brooke Rea Pamela
Isenberg how does he do intermittent fasting?

Pamela Isenberg
Brooke Rea he eats only in the evening. He's been doing it for about 6 months. It i believe allowed his digestive system to rest every day. There are many health benefits to intermittent fasting.

Brooke Rea
Pamela Isenberg I might need to try.

Kimberly Shields
Rodriguez Brooke, never ever give up. Have you tried gluamine or belly mend?

Brooke Rea
I have tried l glutamine but not belly mend. What’s in it?

Kimberly Shields Rodriguez
There is info on belly mend on Bioray's website.

Time to try a new strategy. Switch to low-carb diet, protein is fine, and water. Most of us have a way-too-high carbohydrate intake, which results in a high level of poorly digested carbs in the stomach and the stomach increases acid production to try to deal with it

Paull Alekna
So no more burgers unless you toss the bun, the sugar intake needs to be less than 1/10th, and look again at what's in that smoothie.

Michele Pratt Be careful with beef and pork proteins. I have a hard time digesting meat and it makes my gerd much worse. I take digestive enzymes with. Eats but now i can only have small amounts.

Linda Meador Stewart McGinnis
Have you tried digestive enzymes? I stopped ppi cold turkey in Feb. watched diet& digestive enzymes, small bites chew, chew, chew. Still watch what I eat and the enzymes but I’m a lot better!

Brooke Rea
I have they helped before the flare up but not since.

Linda Meador Stewart McGinnis
Ignore the pepsin, though I do use it occasionally, I keep pictures so I’ll be sure and buy the right thing. This DGL comes in Carmel, licorice and another.

Brooke Rea
Linda Meador Stewart McGinnis thank you so much for sharing! This sight has brought me so much needed support.

I have a friend who had acid reflux. He swears he's been well for the last 3 years by using the powdered form of slippery elm.

Rebecca Oakleaf
What r u eating in your smoothies? I have to be very careful with them.

Brooke Rea
Almond milk spinach strawberries and blueberries mostly and sometimes almond butter.

Brooke Rea
What do you have to be careful with.

Paula Magliane
What does your doctor say? I read with reflux that the Spincter/Les muscle is weak and causes it to stay open which then the acid flows through. All depends on the food we eat but you need to talk to your doctor. Feel better.

Brooke Rea
Yes I have a weak les.

Paula Magliane
I also have a weak les. There are deep breathing exercises you can do go to Google and search on the Les muscle something will come up. Iam planning to do them to and thinking on yoga was told this will help strengthen the muscle. This will help rid of acid reflux.

Trudi Sherwood
I'd consider talking to the doctor about surgery to repair the sphincter.. It needs to get under control soon to protect the sensitive esophogeal tissue.

Paula Magliane
I also have a hiatal hernia which causes acid reflux. Iam in the middle of researching that. Iam planning on going to yoga classes to help. Ive done everything I could and forgot the hiatal hernia which I think is the main culprit. Will keep updated on this. So anyone with this condition (hiatal hernia) research this maybe thats part of our refux and pain. Won't hurt to try. Check on yoga or exercises. Just a thought.
